Waiting All Night

shirt: Urban Outfitters | leggings: Topshop | shoes: Topshop (laces: eBay) | necklace: Primark

Now I know what's probably going through your mind at the moment: "Oh GOD why are you wearing leggings as TROUSERS?!" but I promise you this shirt does actually cover my bum at the back, you just can't tell here. I've been mostly vegetating indoors today, struggling to cram all the relevant information into my brain for my exams next week so I actually only nipped outdoors in this outfit once, but hey that counts right? I thought I'd pop a little bit of colour into this outfit today in the form of these amazing tiedye laces which I think will also work if I want to wear black tights with shorts in our supposed British summer.
I don't have too much else to say as I haven't been up to much with all this revision going on, I just hope all of you who aren't doing exams aren't getting too sick of getting an earful about it from everyone at school or university!

"Can't repeat the past?...Why of course you can!" The Great Gatsby and the Summer of Now

Whilst perusing the Harrods website (procrastinating and looking for lavish ways to spend my non-existent money, as always) I came across their Summer of Now cocktails section. In light of The Great Gatsby finally hitting the silver screen, the leading lights in the spirits world have conjured up some fancy new cocktails inspired by classic drinks of the 1920s.
The cocktail that really tickled my fancy is the Floradora, a classic cocktail dating back to the turn of the 20th century. A quick glance at the ingredients and my mouth was watering!

Ingredients:
50ml Hendrick’s Gin
20ml fresh lime juice
20ml raspberry syrup
Spicy ginger beer (or ginger ale), to top
Fresh lime, to garnish
Fresh raspberries, to garnish

The recipe’s pretty simple to follow; just mix the gin, lime juice and raspberry syrup in a teapot, divide between two of your poshest teacups, and top each with ginger beer. Serve with plenty of ice, a sprinkling of fresh raspberries and a slice of lime!

And, of course, if you’re spending the afternoon lazing around in the sun, sipping on gin cocktails a la Daisy Buchanan, you’ll probably want to look the part as well. The delicate lace detailing and soft muted tones of this Lace &Jacquard Dress from Victoria, Victoria Beckham would be perfect for the opulence and grandeur of the 20’s, even if it’s a little more toned down for day time.

However, if you do fancy going all-out, why not treat yourself to a twist on the classic vodka martini? The perfect accessory to this striking Jovani Velvet Gown, and quick and easy to whip up.

Ingredients
20ml French vermouth
10ml elderflower liqueur
2 dashes orange bitters

Just half-fill a cocktail shaker with ice and stir in all the ingredients. Pour through a julep strainer into a chilled martini glass, garnish with lemon and you’re ready to party all night!

The combination of my recent evening spent at Cocktails in the City and all the hype surrounding The Great Gatsby has well and truly got me in the mood for throwing a fancy cocktail party. While I might not be able to actually go out and spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds on dreamy dresses, it is my 21st birthday in just over a month which I think is the perfect excuse to crack out the cocktail shakers and sugar-crusted glasses and have a wonderful evening of dancing and drinking.

Has this 1920's fever got you in the mood for throwing a lavish party?
